WOW!!I have been a firm believer in the methods and practices of the Kama Sutra for 15 years! I had the privilege and PLEASURE of learning the techniques first hand from a master, while living in Indian. I have been trying to explain the wonderful experience for years to others. All the books I've read don't really explain techiques very well, until now. I was VERY impressed with the easy wording and wonderfully detailed photographs. Ms. Hooper really took the time to explain how and why the positions are done and the benefit you and your partner(s) can get from them. I've bought several books for my friends and family. They have much happier and healthier sex lives since learning about the art of the Kama Sutra, many are buying the book for thier friends an family. A great thing should be shared by all! Bravo, Bravo Ms. Hopper! Wonderful job.

This is a great book for anyone interested in getting the most out of sex. Lessons in massage and moodsetting combined with A LOT of sexual positions make this one of the best books of its kind. Use as a guide to spice up your sex life or to just have fun with your partner. Lots of color pictures show by example and simplify the complexity of the average Kama Sutra books. this book is really graphic with lovers in the nude doing the sex act in various positions not only from the kama sutra but also from the perfumed garden and other much-touted classic sex manuals from long ago. let me say that i have read alain danielou's translation of the kama sutra and also a paperback version of the perfumed garden (from bantam doubleday? written by sir richard burton if i remember right...he also has a kama sutra translation i think). those two books were excellent in their own right, not really as sex manuals per se, they are purely text, no illlustrations to help you make sense of positions, but with lots of insights given to their culture and how sex was cultivated in those days. anne hooper gives you the nitty-gritty of positions not only from kama sutra but from the perfumed garden, ananda ranga, etc as well. if what you really want to do is learn how to get down and try new sexual positions, this book shows you how. the pictures are...

I am currently almost 40 weeks pregnant and planning a home birth with a midwife who just lent me this newly released book. I have been scouring for natural birth resources for months. I have read dozens of books and seen many films, including the Orgasmic Birth film. I'm so glad this book came out before my due date! I devoured it in 3 days... it is my favorite book on natural birth thus far. This book takes the film and goes much deeper into the research and implications. I've worked with a Neurofeedback therapist for two years who talks about alpha, beta, and theta brain waves... so I was familiar with the lingo. This book did such a great job of explaining the complex connections between the mother's experience of birth and how the brain functions. I appreciate this book and what it has to offer parents as a guide to birth from the experience of a well-known and loved midwife. Coming out with this title does a lot to expand our cultural perception of how childbirth can be experienced, and I think this book has a lot of value for interested readers who are unfamiliar with the idea of pleasurable childbirth.

Orgasmic Birth is not strictly focused on the topic of orgasmic birth and has more general information about pregnancy, birth and postpartum which are related of course, but I was expecting something more focused on pleasurable labor and birth itself. If you want a book on sexual positions and techniques, this book is not for you. However, if you are a woman who wants to learn that it is OK to be sexy and how to incorperate sexyness into everyday of your life (as well as redefine your idea about what it means to be "bad") this book is awesome! It is really about becoming an autonomous, confidant, adult woman! It's great!
My self-esteem is rising as I do the excersizes (don't worry, most of them are even FUN!) in the book. My posture has changed, I no longer have clothes in my warddrobe that I do not enjoy wearing, and it has opened up a whole range of wonderful conversation with my girls. I'm flabberghasted reading the other reviews of this book, so confused that I just retrieved it, to peruse it again before writing this review. I sense that other reviewers are processing the facts of the book through the lens of their own personal lives.

I read this superb book on men losing interest in sex with their wives as a professional consultant, with a keen interest in sex in America. The book is well balanced and not all focused on placing blame on EITHER party, inspite of two totally contradictory reviews of the same book.

The authors do make the accurate point that the lower-libido partner ALWAYS controls sexual frequency in any relationship. In no way does this book exempt wives from contributing to loss of their husband's libido.

First and foremost, the chapters of the book are organized around the results of a 4000 person, gender-balanced survey of men who have withdrawn from sex with their wives, and wives whose husbands don't want sex...

It is well-researched and carefully written by one of the few true experts in the field. I must say. At first I thought there could be no better work on the subject than The Sex-Starved Wife: What to Do When He's Lost Desire. This book is much more comprehensive, thorough and gender balanced in examining the reasons why male partners either decrease or cease their sexual activity with their significant others. Perhaps this is so because the book is written by a married couple who wanted to be fair to both genders involved. Like THE SEX STARVED WIFE the book wrote that HSDD (hypoactive sexual desire disorder)can be used as a catchall term for little or no sex as a result of many factors both psychological and physiological in origin. I must admit that this book was sometimes very hard for me to read, because it hit way to close to home. I am a 37 year old black male and I have definitely seen a change in the landscape when it comes to relationships in today's culture. I was brought up overseas and in a home and culture where a man was supposed to treat a woman with respect and dignity, get to know her and know her passions and dreams before taking her to bed. I give this book 5 stars simply for shedding light on the new way in which teenagers and young adults view sex and relationships. The author says that for many young people today the concept of courtship or dating is antiquated. It has been replaced by the hookup.

The essence of hooking-up, which can be anything from kissing to intercourse, is that there are no strings attached. There is no relationship, only instant gratification. It is suppose to be primarily a physical act, devoid of emotions. There is usually alcohol involved. The author is clearly against the hooking-up culture. Hurray to the author of this book! Some things in life don't change and how babies get made is one of those things. I didn't want explicit technical pictures. This book provides a platform for the embarrassed parent. The pictures are simple cutouts that explain the process of reproduction. The book begins with flowers and pollination and progresses steadily towards human fertilization. No shocks, no surprises, just simple facts clearly stated. Excellent book. Children are still children and shocking them with a book that they are not prepared to look at is not the answer. This book was a mild approach to a tense subject and I've already recommended it to friends.

Still the best after 36 years

I recommend this book to everyone. First issued in 1968 when I was 6 years old, I still remember being impressed, even at that age, by the logical progression of this book. It explains in the most respectful, lucid way where babies come from. I passed this book on to my older sister when she had kids and they hung on to it and passed it down to me when my kids were learning to read. I just left it in the bookcase and they all picked it up when they were ready for it. For anyone mystified about how and where to begin explaining this subject, here is everything you need. This book is in no way dated and should still be at the top of every list of books on this subject.

this book is one of the best i`ve ever read, and i read my share. but then i deeply respect and admire david deida, and have experienced time after time that even reading his works can open ones heart up and give taste of the deeper realm.

this book has scenes that is quite interesting, to say the least - and it is a great test to "stay open, as love" or suffer from the hearts contraction, fear and aversion.

one of my late inner fascinations is the truth that we will have to accept lifes ambiguities. rarely can one find masters and teachers like ramana maharshi, for instance, which are nothing but saintly purity. krishnamurti is an example of a wise man, strongly illuminated and full of wisdom. then, another time, he is clearly full of prejudgement and aversion. so most people would say "oh, he is so wise and beautiful" (which is true), and other would say "he is an angry and judgemental old man" (which is also true).

this books exposes clearly that...
Nothing but a drunken orgy
I read David Dieda's book "Intimate Communion" and found it to be insightful and transformative - I believe in and experience deep love and sharing he conveys - he hits home on so many points about men and women. I was initially intruiged by the story-like essence of Wild Nights, but I am really disgusted by this book and perceive the "teacher", Mykonos, to be little more than a drunk sex addict who manipulates people at their deepest levels - through sex and the emotions, fulfillment and addictive rush of "love" that one can feel in sex. Although this is supposedly a work of fiction, its focus is on polygamous, sexually loose experiences.

I personally feel let down by this book - this is not about God and love, it is about delusion and the use of group-sex to artificially break down internal barriers - barriers that can be broken down in a truly loving and trusting relationship. In an age of sexual promiscuity (not to mention the rapid rise of sexually transmitted...
Adds colour to the Deida oevre

Deida has written so many guides to emotion and spiritual growth, so it was refreshing here to get a much more colourful sequence of lessons. Though his own experiences with an intensely charismatic teacher, the book is a sequence of extraordinary anecdotes that inspire and entertain as well as teach. While I get a lot out of his other books, especially Finding God through Sex, this is a great companion book.

This is a GREAT book that is NOT something you've read elsewhere. As a matter of fact, I have not seen the fantastic insights in Sacred Sex ANYWHERE else, and I've read plenty of books on the subject. If someone actually took the time to read the book in its entirety, they would find that the focus of Dr. Gardner's argument is that for true Oneness to occur inside the bedroom, it MUST occur outside the bedroom first. Even more, they must understand the depth of the spiritual oneness in the act of making love that God built into the system. It's new. It's right. Read it. Apply it. It will change your marriage.

GREAT INSIGHTS ON SATISFYING SEX!!!

I admit that it took me awhile to wrap my mind around the concept of Sex being Sacred, but Gardner does a great job of explaining "What was on the mind of the Creator" when God designed sex in the first place and gave it to His children as a gift. This is the third book with almost the same title. "The Strap-on Book" and "The Ultimate Guide to Strap-on Sex" covered this subject adequately long ago and not much has changed.

The real problem with these narrow-focus books is that they are little more than magazine articles plumped up with worthless filler so they can be sold over and over. These 160 pages could be reduced to a single chapter in another book . . . But wait, they already have.

For the best $$$ deal, buy "Anal Sex for Women" or "Anal Sex for Couples." The former has better pictures and the latter has more details with less fluff. Plus you get all the extras in a better package.

One pill doesn't fix millions
I've always said to my Dr., family & friends that one pill doesn't fix all. They all thought I'd lost it. My thinking is we are ALL individual humans with different DNA & gene pools. It is not a step-by-step "how to" book that might offend people, although it does cover every aspect of sexual activity--married, single, solo, gay, straight, young, old, one-night, long-term (50 years and even longer). Instead, the book provides practical, encouraging advice from experts and from ordinary women about the joys of loving relationships, dealing with sexual problems of menopause, loss of interest in sex (or your partner's loss of interest and/or ability), how to approach sex with a new partner, helpful exercises, and even a detailed discussion of sex toys and assistive devices. (I thought these were only for `adventurous' couples, but the book explains how they can make sex possible and more enjoyable for older people).

Fantastic book
Let me preface my review by saying that I am skeptical about the philosophy behind imago therapy. I think it's simplistic and outdated to try to locate the source of all psychological problems in one's childhood. This is particularly true for couples. They may have problems because they have different personalities (e.g., one is an introvert and one is an extrovert) or because one partner has undergone a traumatic event, such as disease or loss of a close family member.

Having said this, I found the book absolutely fantastic, and would give it 6 stars if I could. The book doesn't really talk about the philosophic underpinnings of imago therapy. It just uses one key concept from this therapy approach (a specific form of dialog where one mirrors, then validates and empathizes with, the statements of the partner) as the key ingredient in a long list of exercises that help partners to develop an intimate connection. I am a Certified Imago Therapist and work with both couples and individuals in my private practice. This is a great book and one that I highly recommend to couples when it comes to talking about the often challenging, difficult, exciting and titillating subject of sex! 8 years ago when I began my journey to being fat positive in earnest, I had the privilege of buying the first edition of Big Big Love when it was still in print and I am not merely spouting cliches when I say that it changed my life overnight. For the first time in my life I was reading a joyful "how to" sex manual that was geared towards people with bodies like mine. It was a pleasant surprise to find that Big Big Love was more than just your typical sex manual, it was also an invaluable guide to living your life with joie de vivre as a fat person. Big Big Love included such priceless chapters on how to deal with well meaning loved ones who constantly critique your weight and it even offered clever comebacks to comments that come from less than well meaning sources. I was hoping this book would contain more advice and tips on sex with a plus size woman. It didn't really have much helpful advice, instead articles geared toward upping a womans self-esteem so that she can do these things. There was a lot of interesting information in it, though, and I'll definitely look back at it for references on things.

The approach is holistic and covers physiological and emotional aspects of the feminine and further relate these aspects to natural cycles and the macrocosm in general. I have a much greater appreciation and understanding of women as a result of reading this book. Get it! You will not be disappointed.

The aurhor put in a lot of research for this book. It was well written, with detail discriptions and photos. My wife enjoys recieving my Yoni massage as well as I enjoy giving. It's a shame that as a LMT I can not give this massage to my clients.

A senstive but thorough guide
One of the first books I owned and read about sex was the classic The Joy of Sex by Alex Comfort. I was both riveted and embarrassed even though, in hindsight, that how-to manual did approach the subject with greater sensitivity than many recent books. Most books on sex are really how-to manuals without in-depth context. They speak to the mechanics of sex, but rarely discuss the nuts-and-bolts of physical intimacy of love making within committed relationships. The other book I read as a new bride, erred on the side of the esoteric, citing studies and providing clinical explanations that might have bored some to tears and almost frightened me.

For the uninitiated or those with limited experience, but a strong desire or need to go beyond just the possible viable positions and methods of pleasuring one another, there is a lovely solution in Jennie Rosenfeld's and David S. Ribner's new book, The Newlywed's Guide to Physical Intimacy. I was fortunate to receive it through the...
Down to brass tacks and no euphemisms. In Kindle edition, illustrations are after "Parting Words"
Living in a modern orthodox community that is (one of) the intended audience for this book, I see how DESPERATELY it is needed. It is clear, does not use euphemisms, and is incredibly down-to-brass-tacks practical. Right down to the various types of lubricant and a warning not to use too much or add more later. This kind of knowledge is golden for its audience. I didn't expect to learn much (I'm a 3 month newlywed), as I was an informal relationship counselor on my college campus, but there were tips I'd never heard. Additionally, I saw it from a new perspective as a newlywed who had not been sexually active for several years. I am especially glad how strongly the authors repeated that your own comfort is the essential ingredient (and that without your own comfort, it's not going to work well physically).

My only disappointment was the answer to a female's question about her husband refusing to do more than one position after a year of marriage. Respecting his comfort level...

When issues arise in our sex lives we can feel depressed, distant, confused,lost and embarrassed. A book like this will help couples with a language to talk about their bodies, sex and their experiences.

Although a newer sex book, it is already my favorite sex book to recommend (I work as a sex educator for adults). It's well written, easy to read, has great diagrams, fun quizzes at the start of every chapter and - best of all - the information is GREAT. It's right on, it's accurate and written by someone who totally knows what she is talking about.

A major frustration of mine is that a lot of sex books are written by random people who don't know what they're talking about but act like they do. These are the same people who wind up doing things that their partners find unpleasurable but they do them because they read it in a book or magazine (that was wrong!). FINALLY - a book written by an expert who is fun, smart, and clearly loves sex! Dr. Debby writes about sex the way it should be written about - like it's fun and something we can learn to find pleasurable, exciting and connecting with our partners.

This is the kind of book that you will read over and over...

This book was okay, but not really for women who are in tune with their bodies, and looking to spice up their love life. This seems to be more geared to those not comfortable with sex and their own bodies.
